December Deliveries

Vicki, Christine and I made several more deliveries during the month of December to HNC, Ellenburg nursing homes and several private homes.

We sent 12 wreaths with Shambra and Kelly Pellum to Johnsonville SC. Shambra is the Youth and Music Minster of Johnsonville First Baptist Church.

I believe we truly touched some lives though this ministry. Can’t wait to see what 2012 has instore for Wreaths of Love.

Morningside Assisted Living

Our first delivery was to Morningside Assisted living home. This was amazing. I was so nervous. Shambra and Kelly Pellum, Phoebe, Esme, Riah, Micah, Vicki, Rebecca, Christine and I delivered the wreaths. My nerves settled the moment I walked into the home and saw all those smiles. God blessed me so much that day.

Wrapping party

Goal 100 wreaths! I was truly unsure if we had the time to complete 100 wreaths. Time did not seem to be our problem. We had plenty of hand willing to help. On November 12th we had our first Wreath of love creating party.

Pleasant View Baptist Church Acteens help wrap the straw wreaths during their Wednesday night class. This was a big help.

Our biggest issue was materials. The wreaths are made out of straw wreaths sold at craft stores. I guess they were not counting on one group needing 100 wreaths.

I would go to Michael’s and buy them out and the next day I would hit up Hobby Lobby and buy them out. I did that every few days. This was exhausting and frustrating. These two stores were the only two places that sold this type of wreath. Just as I was going to give up, God answered my prayers. Both stores got in good shipments and we were able to get 86 wreaths all together. Very close to our goal. Oh how He provides.

Our designs

We selected four festive colors and built off that. These are the designs we came up with.

Wreaths of Love - Established 2011

Wreaths of Love was established by Amy Kendrick and Christine Whitfield in October 2011.

A friend of mine, Jessica, made a wreath she discovered on pinterest.com. I fell in love with it instantly. It just looked all soft and cuddly. I first thought was – I have to make me one of these and I did. It soon became addicting but really how many wreaths can one person have.

I’m just one of those people that think- if I love it everyone will love it too. I started thinking about who could benefit most from this gift?

The answer was simple, the people who make us who we are today. All our lives they plant little seeds in us so that when we are grown we are giving, responsible, loving adults.

 Our grandparents.

Our grannys spend all there lives raising children, cooking Sunday dinner, taking the time to pass on the simple things in live like sewing and cooking. We could always count on them to read us a story while swinging on the porch.

Papas taking the time to teach us how to fish and turn a stick into a bow and arrow. Papas making granddaughters feel like the princesses they are.

I knew I would need a sidekick so I recruited my sister Christine. She is crafty and not afraid to make a decision. I could count on her.

It was kind of close to Christmas, so we decided to give small wreaths to a nursing home and give the larger wreaths to elderly shut-ins.

Our Goal – 100 wreaths.
